Thanks for posting my pic and thanks again for everything you did for me. You gave me the confidence to start working an online side gig teaching kids in China for extra income and the confidence to leave my job mid year for a better position in Michigan. I can advocate better for myself when my eyelids don't look a hot mess. Thank you 🙂
Thank you I had such an amazing experience with Dr. Putterman, I cannot thank him enough for all he has done. He has transformed not only the way I see on a daily basis, but also my confidence and how I see myself. He Is such a kind hearted person who really takes the time to make sure you get the best care and the best results possible. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Putterman to anyone looking for kind, honest and professional aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.
Drooping of my upper eyelids had caused a loss of vision. Dr Putterman performed a bilateral upper lid functional blepharoplasty on July 25, 2017 with absolutely wonderful results. He and his staff was very thorough with the pre-op exam and gave good, complete explanations and information before and after surgery.
His post surgical follow-up has been just as complete as the surgery itself. All of my peripheral vision has been recovered and the wonderful aesthetic improvement has been a very pleasant bonus. I felt well informed and well treated throughout the whole process. Highly recommend.

I recently had my eyelids lifted and my under eye "bags" removed. The surgery and recovery were virtually painless. I was up and about, with sunglasses on, in a week.
I was so glad I chose Dr. Putterman for the surgery. His knowledge and expertise are incredible. He and his staff were wonderful. It has been 7 weeks and I am so happy with the results. I look great!

..., which is constant blinking of the eyelids. I was referred by Rush hospital to see Dr. Allen Putterman after 2 years of going in for injections every 3 months. The surgery he performed made it possible for me to drive a car, read a book and even go to a movie again without blinking constantly. He and his staff are wonderful. I would recommend Dr. Putterman to anyone suffering with blepharospasms. Thank you Dr. Putterman.

I had a broken orbital floor due to being at the wrong place at the wrong time. The doctor that originally did my surgery didn’t do the best job. I cried all the time. I was so unhappy. Somehow I stumbled upon Dr. Putterman in my quest for someone to repair the not so good initial surgery. I was “scared” into my first surgery and his assistant told me if I would have come there first, that they wouldn’t have even pushed the surgery on me. So always be weary of doctors that try to “scare you” into doing something. I have learned the hard way but honestly, he made my eye like nothing ever happened! It was sunken in and lowered and he put it right back where it was supposed to be. I am beyond thrilled. I still look in the mirror every day and smile. I thought I was going to have to be reminded of “that day” everyday for the rest of my life every time I looked in the mirror but Dr. Putterman fixed me and I am forever grateful. Please don’t be turned off by his quiet demeanor… he really is the best!

I did not like the extra skin on my upper eyelids. During my adult life, I could not wear eye makeup like everyone else because my lids were completely “hooded.” It used to be an aesthetic issue, but in my 50s, it also became a physical issue as the excess skin on my top lids became so heavy that it was “work” to hold my eyes open. I used to occasionally use my fingers to lift up my lids just to see how nice it would be to not have all that skin there. I also had bags under my lids and was actually more self-conscience about that, which became more pronounced the older I got. Smiling made it look worse. After pondering eye-lid surgery for about 20 years, I finally asked my primary care for a referral.
That plastic surgeon actually referred me to Dr. Putterman because she said he was the best. She said he wrote the book on these procedures, and if it were her that’s who she would have do it! I do not live in Chicago but was happy to make the trip to have the best surgeon. In preparation for surgery, I had and failed the peripheral eye test. Dr. Putterman also noted that my eyelids were drooping. Given these facts, insurance covered some of my procedures. I was quite scared to have the surgery because after all, these are my eyes and my face, but was reassured by Dr. Putterman. Vicki stressed that Dr. is conservative. She was wonderful with answering my questions and calming my fears. My surgery went well, and I am very pleased with the results. I look like me, only so much better! I told Dr. that I had never liked my eyes before and now thanks to him, I have pretty eyes! I smile more and take off the glasses that I used to hide behind. My recovery went well. I went out in public 3 weeks later and with makeup to hide the healing incisions, no one could tell. Only my family knew about my surgery and the results are so natural that no one has questioned me. That is exactly what I wanted. I only get compliments on how nice I look. My left eye did water for months due to dryness, but it slowly cleared up. I think my body had to adjust to having my eyes open wider. I am so glad that I finally had the courage to go through with it, knowing I had the best care and expertise in Dr. Putterman. I now enjoy how nice it is to not have to work to hold my eyes open. And even my eyes smile now!

After all, someone would be messing with my eyes and face.
I spoke with two top plastic surgeons about various procedures I was considering. (I was doing my due diligence and trying to find the right doctor for me.) When it came to upper lid blepharoplasty with ptosis correction both doctors immediately referred me to Dr. Putterman. They considered him to be the best in the Chicago area. I also consulted with Dr. Packo the top retina specialist in the area. Although a retina specialist, I valued his opinion since 20 years ago he saved my eyesight with what was then an experimental operation. I mentioned Dr. Putterman’s name and a broad grin came to his face as he told me he studied under Dr. Putterman. Dr. Putterman was the best.
So, there you have it – three of the top surgeons in Chicago all told me to see Dr. Putterman – and I did – twice. Both times he was incredibly patience, gracious, understanding and exact in his explanation. Being an engineer I wanted to know how the procedure was to be done. He patiently and thoroughly explained it in detail using diagrams and pictures from the books he had written. I sensed he did this to reduce my anxiety as he could have just referred me to a web-video.  He probably had given this explanation hundreds of times in various lectures to which he had been invited to speak and with numerous patients like me, but he took the time to do it with me patiently answering my questions. I also learned in my internet travels that Dr. Putterman invented a very clever instrument that allowed for the precise alignment of the eye lid muscle (an extremely important element of correcting ptosis) – and that instrument bears his name as well as the surgical procedure he developed.
So, there you have it. Dr. Putterman: (1) was recommended by some of the best in the business; (2) invented a revolutionary surgical procedure and the instrument to go along with it; (3) wrote several books and lectures widely; (4) has a gentle, low-keyed personality; and (5) is a Zumba instructor to boot!
Dr. Putterman’s staff was great. Vicki provided me with pictures of the others who had a similar procedure as me; told me what to do before surgery and what to expect afterwards; arranged for after-surgery nursing care; scheduled the appointments flawlessly and provided humor and support.
Anyone who is considering this type of surgery needs to understand that it is a partnership between the doctor and you. For me, the doctor’s skill and experience was what was most important and everything else was a welcomed bonus. I believe I picked the best. My part of the partnership was to follow his and his staff’s instructions, have realistic expectations and be patient during recovery.
I agreed to the upper lid blepharoplasty with ptosis correction and added a cheek mid facelift. I am two weeks into the recovering and loving the results. I would highly recommend Dr. Putterman and his staff.

Dr. Putterman
I’m enclosing a picture of our son, Luke, now 17. Luke had intended to mail this photo along with the note he sent you. At the time, we couldn’t find it!
So here he is…. Luke, in all his “glory”, feeling very “normal”, thankfully, and yes- confident.
I really mean it, Dr. Putterman, when I say you changed his life. We are forever grateful to you and we do thank God for you. We were praying for you, fervently, before and during the surgery. We also prayed that Luke’s eye would heal in a very advantageous way. We know all those prayers were answered!
So thank you for using your intelligence, vast years of experience, and surgical prowess to help our much-loved son.
So grateful,
Gwen Jebb
Dear Dr. Putterman,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the hard work that you’ve put in over the years which has made my newly shaped eyelid possible. From the first time I met you and your wonderful staff, to admiring your office’s beautiful view, I felt at home. I also sincerely appreciate all the hoops that you and your staff jumped through on my behalf. You did a great job!
Thankful,
Luke Jebb
My heart is grateful for all your loving care. You have been blessed by God with a talent- I have been blessed more by receiving it. You and your staff will always hold a special place in my heart.
Sincerely,
Regenia Harris
Dr. Putterman is very gentle, experienced, and very “patient oriented”. He even returned my calls on Sunday from his home! His staff is exceptional, and they, too, were responsive and helpful whenever I had questions or concerns. Cosmetic surgery is never an easy decision, but rest assured that when you select Dr. Putterman, you will be in the hands of one of the most experienced, reputable, and knowlegeable surgeons just about anywhere. I am very pleased with the results of my lower blepharoplasty.

I have Thyroid Eye Disease and what he was able to do for me was amazing! He is always punctual and thoroughly explains everything. His follow-up calls after surgery were very much appreciated. His assistant and staff are warm and caring people. They make the whole process seamless. And their follow-up calls were very much appreciate, as well. It’s really cool to have a professional family who makes you feel like you are their only patient.

Dr. Putterman and his staff were wonderful! I am so grateful for everything - especially the special attention I felt. My eyelids were hanging in front of my irises and were beginning to cause problems with my sight. Dr. Putterman suggested going under my eyelids to tighten the muscles which I'd never heard of before. He also suggested taking out some skin above and below the lid. I wasn't sure about this but did consent based on my belief that he knew what he was doing. The surgery went very well. I was given post op instructions that involved applying compresses soaked in ice water and later cleaning my eyes with distilled water and applying two different ointments along with drops twice daily. This was very easy to do. It's now two months after my surgery. The bruising has disappeared and there are few traces of surgery. As a matter of fact, last week, two total strangers told me "What beautiful eyes you have!" This made my day to know that now people can see my eyes rather than my drooping lids. I feel much better about myself. I recommend Dr. Putterman to anyone with drooping lids. He is kind and caring as well as open and honest. I had no unpleasant surprises! Thank you, Dr. Putterman!
